Refocusing

Not many of you may know this but I started doing this as a member of many Disney Facebook groups. A simple post with text and a photo in a group. It didn't take long for the information I posted to become popular and after a short time I ended up have about 20 other group founders asking me to post it in their groups too. Those days I was posting a simple photo with a large caption of text then copying and pasting the same thing into the other groups.

Let me tell you, fixing a typo was complicated to say the least. I finally opened my Facebook page in 2016 and was using slides along with long captions for my information. It was only natural that I then began posting into Instagram and having it auto share into my Facebook account.

I’ve had many followers suggest, over the past few years, that I should open a membership offering for supporting the work I do for the community.

As many of you know, I don’t get offered collabs and such so I don’t make any money off what I do, but I put a considerable amount of work and time into my content. Since I don’t make enough to hire anyone like some of the larger blogs do, that means I don’t have anyone helping me gather the information, format it, and put it into my slides. I do that all myself and through the help of my friendly Hidden Mickeys.

So, after 11 years of doing this, I have decided to give memberships a try. In doing so I have come to the realization that I need to have some sort of offering/gift/benefit to give members.

This was the hard part to figure out for me and why I never just started memberships up in the past. Since all of what I do I offer for free, I never really wanted to lock any of it behind a paywall.

I'm still not going to lock up my content behind a paywall.

I’ve come up with some things that I think will make the memberships worthwhile based upon things I used to do when I first started out in Disney Facebook groups in 2015.

These things will help me to increase my visits to be able to provide more timely updates like I did in the past and pay my costs for my websites (Gothicrosie and my LA Fires one for Fairy Gothmother Project), including the storage space I have full of donations, and little things like shipping on giveaways and gifts/donations.

I’m pretty close to getting this up and running and I’ll post it when I’m ready.
